# Bitget Demo Won’t Place an Order: Strategy Bug or Setup Mismatch?

- Description: Do not rewrite the strategy first. Trace signal, order, demo identity, and exchange response to find the layer that actually failed.

**The strategy fired a buy signal, but Bitget demo behaves as if nothing happened. The usual response is to rewrite the strategy. Run it again. Still no order.** That is like rewriting the recipe because the driver never received an address. The kitchen gets busier. Delivery stays exactly where it was. Trace the order through four stops before changing the wrong thing.

## Find the stop where the order disappeared

“No fill” may mean no signal, no order object, a mismatched demo identity, or an accepted order still waiting. One symptom; four very different repairs.

Look for the signal time, outbound order, response, exchange order ID, and later state. Without that route, debugging is guesswork wearing a nice log file.

## Bitget demo needs a demo identity

Bitget documentation requires the relevant identity setup, demo mode, separate demo credentials, and a request setting that marks the order as simulated.

A credential that can read market data is not automatically a demo-trading credential. Opening the delivery app does not mean the address and payment method are ready. Seeing the menu is not checkout.

## Debug four layers, in order

1. **Signal:** Did the strategy actually fire?
2. **Order:** Were side, size, price, and type created?
3. **Environment:** Do demo credentials, mode, and request settings agree?
4. **Exchange:** Was the order rejected, accepted, partially filled, or left open?

If the first two fail, inspect strategy and order logic. If the demo identity is wrong, tuning indicators is like fixing a bad delivery address by changing the amount of salt. The kitchen is active. The driver is still lost.

## Ten retries can repeat the same mistake ten times

Identity mismatches and invalid parameters do not improve with repetition. A retry only submits the same bad order again. Preserve the request and error, pause similar orders, and fix the matching configuration. If the network leaves the result uncertain, query the original order before creating another.

## Make this diagnosis reusable

EdgePilot can keep supported strategy versions, parameters, market settings, and historical tests in one evidence trail. The Research plugin can also organize supplied, redacted signals, orders, and responses so the next check targets the failed layer.

One conversation keeps the strategy, settings, and test conditions together.

**Do not blame the strategy just because the order is missing.** The recipe may be fine; the order may never have left the kitchen.

Break the task into verifiable steps instead of letting a brand ranking replace the evidence.

## Next step: Save one failure across all four layers

[Use EdgePilot Research to organize this validation](https://www.edgepilotai.io/en/research/?utm%5Fsource=edgepilot%5Fblog&utm%5Fmedium=article%5Fcta&utm%5Fcampaign=bitget-demo-api-order-failure&utm%5Fcontent=research%5Fentry). Test the one condition most likely to change the decision before comparing twenty dimensions.
